With the breaking news this morning of the Titans firing Mike Vrabel, who else is on the hot seat?

We know that the following teams are in need of new head coaches:
– Atlanta Falcons
– Carolina Panthers
– Las Vegas Raiders
– Los Angeles Chargers
– Tennessee Titans
– Washington Commanders
But, who else is going to need a head coach?

Guys like Todd Bowles save his job by squeeking into the playoffs. Zac Taylor who seemed to be on the hot seat for quite some time had his job saved even missing the playoffs, strictly due to Joe Burrow being injured, and same goes for Robert Saleh. Without your star QB, can you really be held to the same standard? And then we have the shocker in Chicago that the Bears plan to bring Eberflus back, but what else is going to happen.

Let’s predict some other possible head coaching openings:

Higher Chance To Be Fired Than Not:

Mike McCarthy – Dallas Cowboys

Jerry Jones made the weird hire of Mike McCarthy a few seasons back, and time is up in Dallas. The Cowboys haven’t taken the step forward that is expected from Jones and the fans, and it’s time to bring in the young/flashy hire that will get Dak to take the next step that everyone seems to think he has within him.

Nick Sirianni – Philadelphia Eagles

You cannot start 10-1, and end the season 11-6. Granted the Eagles were in the Super Bowl just one season ago, the franchise has a history of quick firings and Sirianni is next on the chopping block.

Could Be Fired, But Would Be Surprising

Doug Peterson – Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jags issue isn’t the head coach, it’s the play calling. They have all the talent in Jacksonville, however they can’t seem to be in the right place. This also falls on the question that is beginning to arise… is Trevor Lawrence that good?

Mutual Parting of Ways

Bill Belichick – New England Patriots

I’m not sold on this happening, however everyone in the media seems to think that it is the inevitable. I believe that Bill has an unlimited timeframe and it’s on his own terms when/if he leaves the franchise. While the team has success for 20-years and fans expect that same thing currently, I don’t believe that Kraft will let Bill go coach another team.

Retiring

Andy Reid – Kansas City Chiefs

Reports came out this week that Andy Reid would consider retiring after the season. Andy is 65 years old, and a simple man. He’s going to go hang out with his wife out of the spot life and eat cheeseburgers as a first ballot hall of famer.

Surprise Firing Candidate:

Brian Daboll – New York Giants

Brian Daboll found a taste of success in his first year in New York, going 9-7-1, however his second year wasn’t as pretty finishing 6-11. Starting the season 2-8, the Giants would finish out strong with 4 wins, however 2 of those wins came against the 2nd and 3rd worst teams in the NFL – Commanders and Patriots. While beating the Eagles in week 18, as we talked about above, they aren’t the same Eagles team who was also sitting players.
I wouldn’t be surprised if news came out of the Giants making a switch.

It’s going to be a fun off-season.

Till Next Time,
Trevor
