Happy Draft Day! Today should be a national holiday, arguably my favorite day of the sports calendar.
Earlier I released my quarterback rankings, and now it’s time for the final mock draft.
One thing that is going to stand out here, JJ McCarthy going to the New York Giants. This is a horrible pick, but the Giants are a horrible franchise. They should be looking at every option to trade out of that pick, and there is a legitimate chance they do to a team that ends up taking JJ in their place, but in my mock draft – we don’t have trades. I have JJ landing in the Big Apple, competing with Daniel Jones who’s time in New York should have already come to a close but his contract says otherwise.
Another stand out if Michael Penix Jr. not falling below the 11th pick, where in this draft the Vikings hold their two first rounders and get (what they believe to be) their quarterback of the future. Many mock’s have Penix Jr. as a late 1st rounder, even falling out of the first round, however the Vikings are desperate and make the move to get their guy here.
10 Offensive lineman come off the board in my mock, and there is a legitimate chance we see even more than that.
The fact that no Linebackers or Runningbacks will be coming off the board night one is a wild thought when you look back at the recent seasons and the impact those positions have on the game.
Overall, I personally think this is a fairly weak draft class across the board outside of 3-4 players.
We are just a few hours away!
Till Next Time,
Trevor
