Just like every other semi-below average golf fan, I have completed watching Full Swing on Netflix. The docuseries is in the same format as Drive To Survive, the popular Formula 1 docuseries Netflix also produced which brought a whole new wave of fans to the Formula 1 circuit.

Full Swing, just like Drive To Survive does with drivers, follows the PGA Tours top golfers throughout the 2022 PGA Season. The only true top name not included in the series is Tiger Woods, but he is “in” the series.

Each episode follows 2 golfers during the lead up to an event on the tour. Some episodes are more exciting than others, but the show brings to light the rivalry between LIV Tour and PGA Tour, as well as showing off the personalities of each golfer that you wouldn’t see unless you watched.

Here are a couple takeaways from the series:

Brooks Koepka’s house is absurd. That alone made me angry I didn’t become a professional golfer. Along with being a great looking dude, having a beautiful wife, he’s also got an insane home.

Colin Morikawa is a just a normal dude who’s good at golf. The scene of him telling the Adidas officials that he wouldn’t be wearing what they wanted him to was outstanding. All of these fashionistas are appalled that he didn’t like the outfit they were thinking he would wear, and he just wants to go out and golf and look like a normal guy.

The hat he wears is absolutely HEINOUS, and he is a super chill guy, but the fact that everyone around Joel Dahmen says how great he is and he doesn’t try, really does irk me. I understand his mindset entirely, being chill/relaxed/laid back are all outstanding, but if you can be great, why not be? It doesn’t seem like he needs to focus THAT much more to get over the hump according to those around him.

All Golfers are just like us. Cussing after a bad shot, self deprecating after missing a putt, and just want to talk shit with the boys on each other. This was what made me the happiest during the show, that it’s not just me and my buddies who do it – even the big guys do.

I’d recommend Full Swing even if you aren’t a fan of watching golf on TV, just for the insight into the world of golfers. They train harder than you think, they play more than you think, and they are way funnier than you think.

Till Next Time,
Trevor
