Eric Bienemy – Leaves Chiefs?

Happy Saturday,

It was announced this week that Eric Bienemy, the 53 year old former Chiefs Offensive Coordinator, would be leaving the team to take the same position with the Washington Commanders. Yes, he is leaving the best player in the NFL (Patrick Mahomes), coming off of his second Super Bowl win, to join the franchise that is perinerally in question – from ownership to coaching to quarterback to everything under the sun.

Bienemy yearly interviews for head coaching jobs in the NFL, however he has yet to land a lead position. This move comes after he has been with the Chiefs organization since 2013 in the roles of Runningback Coach and Offensive Coordinator.

Ron Rivera is still at the helm in Washington, however no one can be quite sure how long that will last as he is in the hot seat yearly. They do not have a clear cut starting QB, and are questionable across the board at skill positions other than Terry McLaurin on the outside.

I will never understand this move, unless it is to prove to the league that he doesn’t need Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce to be great offensive coordinator, but I’m not sure I would consider leaving them for the trash fire that is the Commanders.

Until Next Time,
Trevor
