24 seasons, 6 Super Bowls, 17 Division Titles, and 18 playoff appearances… Bill Belichick’s time in New England is coming to a close.
This morning the Patriots announced a mutual parting of ways between the Hall of Fame coach and the franchise. After his incredible run with Tom Brady at the helm, Bill and the Patriots have struggled to find the “Patriot Way” in the Post-Brady era.
Cam Newton, Mac Jones, Bailey Zappe, and Brian Hoyer have started games at quarterback for Bill and the Patriots since Brady’s departure. 29-38 in that time, the Patriots decided the franchise needed to go in a different direction following a 4-13 season which landed them the 3rd overall pick in this years draft.
The next question is: Where will he coach next?
I think personally he is going to retire down the coast in Annapolis and enjoy the rest of his life. We just saw yesterday Nick Saban retire at the age of 72, Belichick is 71 years old and is he really going to be interested in starting over in a new city, new franchise, new everything? I just can’t imagine that is something that he is enjoying the thought of.
Rumors swirled throughout the season that he would be the Chargers next head coach, the Commanders next head coach, but in reality… will he be a head coach again?
It has to be clear by now that Mike Vrabel will be the next New England Patriots head coach, however nothing is official until the paperwork is signed. It only makes sense and it’s a matter of time.
My childhood coaches are all coming to an end and I’m upset.
Till Next Time,
Trevor
