Happy Friday,

Welcome to Weekend Picks, where I give you 5 bets for the weekend of football that is upon us. Now, I am by no means a gambling expert, and don’t claim to be, but these are the best bets of the weekend in my opinion. Some picks will be a mix of NFL and College games, play at your own risk!

USC Trojans -11.5

The Trojans are back. Well, at least they appear to be. Lincoln Riley has the offense firing on all cylinders and the defense is an interception machine currently. While Lincoln’s defenses at Oklahoma were never known for shutting opponents down, the Trojans have done a great job so far keeping opponents offesnes at bay. This week they come home after a road win against Stanford to take on the a 1-1 Frenso State Bulldogs team.

The Bulldogs have beaten an FCS opponent in Cal Poly this season, and lost last week to Oregon State by 3. The Trojans offense is significantly better than both of Frenso’s previous opponents, and that alone is enough to believe the Trojans will hand the Dogs their 2nd loss of the season, and in dominating fashion.

Oklahoma Sooners -11

The Sooners head into Lincoln this weekend to take on the recently head coach-less Nebraska Cornhuskers. While the Huskers will be looking for a statement against the Sooners after the firing of Alumni Scott Frost, I don’t see any way possible that one week under new supervision will change anything in the Nebraksa program. The team is 1-2, their win coming against FCS North Dakota – who still almost beat them after being tied at half time.

The Sooners under new head coach Brent Venables have played Kent State and UTEP this season, easily walking through both opponents. Currently sitting at #6 in the polls, the Sooners won’t be letting off the gas any time soon and will easily cover this weekend.

Detroit Lions -1 & Jared Goff o1.5 Passing TD’s

Last week the Commanders beat the Jaguars by one score, with a 28-22 victory. The Lions are a better all around team than the Jaguars, and the offense led by Jared Goff is coming off of a 35 point offensive effort in a 3 point loss to the Eagles, who are significantly better than the Commanders. At home in Detroit against a lesser opponent, taking the Lions -1 here is a no brainer.

Now, lets look at Jared Goff’s TD prop line at 1.5 total (-121 Barstool Sportsbook / -125 DraftKings Sportsbook). Goff has thrown for 2+ TD’s in 5 of his last 6 games. While the Jags limited Trevor Lawrence to 1 TD last week, Goff has more experience and more of a passing game than Lawrence has in his short career. While the stats aren’t great to back this play, I see no way that Goff doesn’t hit the over here.

Cincinnati Bengals -7

Joey B coming off an embarrassing performance and loss to the Steelers in week 1 is enough to bet on him this week. On top of a bounce back statement coming out of the Bengals, the Cowboys are…well…the Cowboys. Dak is out for at minimum 4 weeks (they will rush him and he will get hurt again, so that should be interesting), meaning we will be getting a Cooper Rush sighting in Arlington. I’m not going to say anymore on this… Joe Burrow bounce back after embarressing divisional loss against Cooper Rush led Dallas Cowboys.

Buffalo Bills -10

I’m always weary of double digit spreads in the NFL, however this is a different situation. Not only at the Bills the best overall, well-rounded team in the NFL, but they are coming off of an extended week to prep for the Titans (Thursday Night Football to Monday Night Football). The Titans are a good team, however they are not a great team. They will be a bubble playoff team, however they will struggle offensively with the loss of AJ Brown and the inevitable injury coming to Derrick Henry (never wish injury upon anyone, just saying he’s coming off injury, and is at the age where NFL runningbacks begin their downfall). Even with a healthy Henry, Ryan Tannehill lacks the offensive weapons a player of his skill needs to lead a team to an impressive playoff run season. The Bills again are the best team in the league and should handle the Titans easily at home this week in primetime.

Again, I am not an expert and these are just my suggestions and bets I like this week in football. Play at your own risk, and as always – gamble responsibly!

Till Next Time,
Trevor
