Madden Has Done It Again

Happy Friday,

Yet again, Madden has gotten rankings wrong. Year after the year the game not only lets fans down by not changing the game (see this reddit video for proof the game does not change year to year), but they also refuse to get the rankings even remotely close to right.

Today the QB rankings for Madden 2023 dropped on social media. Now, don’t get me wrong, as a Tom Brady lover and supporter… he is not the #1 overall QB in the game. Thats right, the people at EA Sports believe that the 44 year old is the best QB in the league. Patrick Mahomes is the best overall QB in real life and in video games, and the only one who should be even close is reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers. However, somehow Madden has done the gaming community the injustice yet again this year by butchering the rankings.

Below are the rankings of top 10 QB’s in Madden 2023:
1. Tom Brady – 97
2. Aaron Rodgers – 96
3. Patrick Mahomes – 95
4. Josh Allen – 92
5. Joe Burrow – 90
6. Dak Prescott – 89
7. Justin Herbert – 88
8. Russell Wilson – 87
9. Lamar Jackson – 87
10. Matt Stafford – 85

The Super Bowl champion QB who has thrown for a million and a half yards in his career, 85 and 10th overall. Justin Herbert who many believe has a chance at winning the MVP this season after back to back stellar years, 7th overall behind Dak Prescott who Herbert threw for more yards and touchdowns than, as well as rushing yards and TDs. Granted, he is only 1 point behind, but none the less, behind. If you wanted to put Rodgers ahead of Mahomes, I would be more okay with it than Brady due to the fact Rodgers is the MVP, but Brady being the top overall QB is atrocious.

I am no expert when it comes to rankings, but when yearly every single person who plays the game is upset, how do you continue to get it wrong? And by “play the game” I mean gamers and actual NFL players… the players themselves speak out against not only their own ranking (who isn’t going to complain about their low ranking) but also teammates and rivals alike.

Maybe if EA Sports was focused on producing a decent game, opposed to making money off of Ultimate Team, people would be happy and not complain and drag the game through the mud year after year.

I’m not saying I’m a hero, but I haven’t purchased the last 3 Maddens.

Be better EA Sports, be better.

Till Next Time,
Trevor
