The GOAT is Heading to the Booth

Tom Brady has signed a reported 10 year contract with Fox Sports that will pay the greatest NFL player of all time 375 million dollars to be the lead analayst in the booth. The deal will not begin until Brady decides that his playing days are over, however the terms have already been agreed to. A similar situation happened with Drew Brees when he signed with NBC for his post-playing day job prior to his retirment.

Pretty impressive for Tom to retire for 6 weeks, and then decide to come back to the NFL because he couldn’t handle being retired. Now he hasn’t even retired again and has already lined up a job so he doesn’t have to retire for at least another 10 years after his playing days are done.

The reported $37.5 million per year will make Brady by far the most paid NFL commentator, surpasing Tony Romo’s $17.5 million per year deal with CBS. Keep in mind, Romo’s contract came after he proved his worth in the booth for a few seasons with CBS and showed his talents commentating games. Brady recieves this contract having never spoken as a color commentator in the league before.

Granted, we have seen Tom’s personality shine through since arriving in Tampa Bay, where prior to his arrival coming from New England he was much more low-key and quiet, but $37.5 million a year for someone who has never done the job is absolutely insane.

The Manning Brothers had success with The Manningcast on ESPN2 this past season during Monday Night Football, Drew Brees has had success joining the NBC crew for NFL games, will Tom Brady see continued success after hanging up his cleats?

Only time will tell, but if Brady puts in half of the dedication and preparation he has into his football career into his broadcasting career, it is safe to say he will be the GOAT of the booth as well.
